A handsome Edwardian pub table by Gaskell & Chambers of Birmingham. The circular three-plank quarter-sawn oak top is supported on a base of four tapering splayed stained beech legs terminating in ball feet joined by a cross-stretcher. The maker’s original riveted label remains intact beneath.

A particularly good example of the firm’s work, the original solid oak plank top displaying superb grain figuring and a warm golden tone. Functional, honest and beautifully proportioned with subtle Arts & Crafts influences. Sturdy enough for commercial use yet equally at home today as a small side table in the home.

Presented in very good antique condition with a rich patina and only relatively light surface wear consistent with age and use. One foot shows a small area of historic wear, long since settled and entirely stable. The top shows some minor age separation, previously strengthened and solid. Structurally all sound, clean and ready to place.

English, circa 1910.
