Antique Mahogany Folding Card Table with Bookshelf Base c.1920
A finely made early 20th century mahogany folding card table of practical and elegant design, the rectangular top swivelling and folding open to reveal an original green baize-lined playing surface. Quite unusually, the base incorporates a tiered bookshelf with two open shelves to each side, all raised on square supports terminating in their original small brass and ceramic castors.
A refined example of interwar ingenuity. Compact, versatile and thoughtfully designed for the smaller drawing rooms or studies of the period. The warm dark tone of the mahogany contrasts attractively with the green baize interior, offering both function and charm in equal measure.
Presented in very good antique condition with a rich polished surface and only light surface wear consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place.
English, circa 1920.
