Here we have an Antique Rare French Napoleon III (1852-70) Ebonised & A La Reine Boulle Brass Serpentine Center Table with a drawer. The secret drawer opens to reveal a beautiful red mahogany interior. Included is a custom cut glass top to fit the table, protecting both the beautiful top and allowing for items or decorations to be placed on top safely and with no worry!
A fine example of ‘A La Reine Boulle” furniture with extraordinary boulle table top surrounded by a brass inlaid border. This a very unique technique of boulle marquetry composing of an alternating pattern of inlaid mother of pearl and brass flowers and circles. ‘A La Reine’ (‘to the queen’) is luxury French furniture created in the ‘ Queens Style’ by master French craftsmen for royals & aristocrats, with very few fine furniture examples to exist.
Mounted throughout with ormolu brass mounts and on each leg there stands out ormolu mounted figures surrounded in foliage, in which each face look inwards towards each over symbolising partnership or love.
