A late Victorian inlaid bamboo occasional table, the square top decorated with geometric parquetry and painted floral motifs in the Anglo-Japanese taste above typical decorative supports and raised on slightly flared legs united by a square stretcher.

A characteristic example of the Aesthetic Movement’s fascination with natural form and Eastern influence. Light, sculptural and easy to move, it sits gracefully beside a sofa or chair, able to be moved into position as needed and adding decorative interest to any interior.

Presented in very good antique condition with a pleasing patina and minor surface wear consistent with age, including an old, stable split to the top that does not affect use or stability. Structurally sound, clean, and ready to place in the home.

English, circa 1880.
