A refined late Victorian Aesthetic Movement pedestal or kneehole desk in solid ash. The rectangular top sits over a traditional nine-drawer layout, with graduated drawers to each pedestal and a central frieze drawer above a generous kneehole. The drawer fronts display excellent ash grain, punctuated by original pressed brass drop handles on stylised backplates. Chamfered plinth bases and slim, stepped mouldings complete the clean, architectural lines.

The proportions are particularly appealing, with a narrow footprint and a decorative, understated presence. Lower in height than some desks, and originally possibly intended as a dressing table, now suited to a host of domestic uses, paired with a lower chair it makes a smart solution for writing, laptop work or even as a decorative console in a bedroom or study.

Presented in very good antique condition with only some light age related surface wear. Structurally sound and constructed in one piece, beautifully clean and ready to place in the home.

English, circa 1880.
