Antique Victorian Carved Oak Bobbin Corner Chair c.1890
An unusual late Victorian oak corner chair constructed in dark-stained oak with bold bobbin-turned legs and supports, relief-carved seat panel and a pierced splat rising to a shaped crest rail with fan-carved detail.
Confidently sculptural with a strong vernacular character and some Arts & Crafts influence, drawing on earlier designs but in a slightly heavier, stylised manner that reflects late 19th-century Victorian taste for historical pastiche and decorative flourish.
Presented in very good condition, with honest wear and marks consistent with age. Structurally solid, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, c.1890.
