Antique Victorian Oak Bedside Cabinet c.1890
A late Victorian oak Aesthetic Movement bedside cabinet. The solid oak top with attractive grain sits above a single door neatly detailed with ebonised and gilt decoration, enclosing a mahogany panel, with original brass ring pull and latch. The cabinet stands on a moulded oak plinth, with pine sides as was typical of the period.
A refined example of late Aesthetic design, showing the movement’s preference for clean geometry, tonal contrast and subtle handcrafted detailing. A practical and characterful bedside piece that would also sit well in a hallway or living room.
Presented in very good antique condition with an even patina, light surface wear consistent with age, a clean interior and a small patch of old wear to one corner of the plinth. Structurally solid and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1890.
