A bold and impressive flame mahogany commode, or sideboard, by Gill & Reigate of London. Dating to the Edwardian period and very well constructed in solid mahogany with attractive flame mahogany veneers. Of serpentine form and standing on characteristic ball and claw feet. The pair of end cupboards open to reveal shelved interiors. The central pair of cupboard doors open to reveal an interior fitted with drawers. All doors are lockable (key supplied).  Cleaned and waxed in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition , ready to go straight into the home.

The firm of Gill & Reigate was founded in 1898, and by 1901, trading at 85 Oxford Street, London, they described themselves as 'Dealers in Antique & Modern Furniture, Artistic Decorators and Upholsterers'. They were decorators to King George V. The firm appears to have lasted until 1958, then trading at Arlington House, Arlington Street.

During the period 1915-1920 the firm were engaged on the restoration and furnishing of Sulgrave Manor, under the direction of the architect Sir Reginald Blomfield.
