Set of Four Antique Georgian Oak Ladderback Dining Chairs c.1800
A characterful set of four late Georgian country ladderback chairs in solid oak, each with shaped back rails and hand-rushed seats, all standing on turned legs united by stretchers, the front with a characteristic waisted central turning typical of late Georgian country work. The oak has matured to a deep, even colour with the kind of surface quality only achieved through centuries of natural use.
Charming, authentic examples of English country furniture from the turn of the nineteenth century, these chairs retain their honest, practical character, the later rush seats are well fitted and comfortable, while the warm colour and tactile finish make them equally at home in a farmhouse kitchen or a more refined dining setting.
Presented in very good antique condition with the expected minor wear, historic repairs and colour variation consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1800.
Price is for set of 4 chairs.
