Victorian Ebonised Credenza
A late Victorian ebonised credenza, richly embellished with fine ormolu mounts and hand-painted porcelain plaques in the French Louis XVI style.
The shaped front features a central panel adorned with an oval Sevres-style porcelain plaque depicting a romantic pastoral scene, framed by ornate gilt mounts. Matching circular porcelain roundels further decorate the frieze and door panels, adding symmetry and opulence.
The credenza’s flanking bow-fronted glazed display cabinets retain their original curved glass and velvet-lined interiors with brass inlaid shelves — ideal for showcasing fine porcelain or glassware. The top and borders are enhanced with delicate stringing, gilt beading, and a rich burr walnut banding that contrasts beautifully with the deep ebonised finish.
