A very fine example of a mid 19th century military chest of drawers. Of colonial origin, most likely Anglo-Indian and dating to 1830-1840. Of excellent construction is solid camphorwood and finished with ebony moldings. Fitted with original solid brass recessed handles. Splits into 2 sections for ease of installation. The top section with a secretaire drawer flanked by shorter drawers and with a long drawer above. The bottom section with 3 long drawers. All drawers are lockable (key supplied). The secretaire drawer opens to reveal a fitted interior , complete with a sumptuous black leather writing surface. To the top is a gallery (detachable) and the whole chest stands on turned bun feet. This chest exudes charm and colonial elegance. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home.
