Antique Edwardian Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase Glazed Display Cabinet Library Cabinet
Description
A handsome Edwardian mahogany breakfront bookcase with an elegant architectural shape and very useful proportions. The stepped breakfront form gives the piece a strong presence while still keeping a refined look that works well in both traditional and more modern interiors.
The upper section is fitted with glazed doors allowing books, silver or decorative objects to be displayed while remaining protected. The central door has an attractive arched astragal design which adds extra character and sets the piece apart from simpler examples. Below are three paneled cupboard doors opening to generous enclosed storage, ideal for larger books, papers or household items that you may prefer to keep out of sight.
The mahogany has a rich warm tone with pleasing figuring across the doors and a lovely mellow appearance. Raised on shaped bracket feet and finished with a decorative moulded frieze, this is an attractive and practical antique cabinet with plenty of storage.
