Antique French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Corner Cabinet with Marble Top
A fine quality 19th-century French Louis XVI style corner cabinet beautifully inlaid and mounted with gilt-bronze ormolu. The white marble top sits above a frieze inlaid with floral marquetry and ormolu moulding over a single bowed door exquisitely decorated with a central vase issuing flowers, framed by foliate sprays and crossbanded veneers.
The cabinet is veneered in richly figured kingwood and tulipwood accented with ebonised borders and finely cast ormolu mounts, including rosettes, ribbon-tied garlands and classical acanthus leaf ornaments. It stands on turned feet with gilt-bronze sabots.
The interior offers practical storage while the exterior displays exceptional craftsmanship and elegant proportion — a perfect example of French cabinetmaking from the late 19th century.
