A fine late 18th-century George III mahogany wine cooler/lamp table of elegant sarcophagus form raised on its original tapering pedestal stand. The well-figured mahogany body displays rich colour and fine patina with moulded edges and original brass ring handles to either side.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a later baize-lined interior, formerly lead-lined, now adapted for modern use as a decorative storage box, lamp table or occasional piece. The cooler is supported on a turned column and triform base with splayed legs terminating in brass castors, typical of late Georgian design.
