Antique Georgian Pair of Mahogany Inlaid Console Tables

A superb and very useful pair of antique Georgian mahogany inlaid console tables, dating to the George III period, with elegant satinwood inlay and unusually generous proportions. Designed to stand independently as a matching pair, they can also be joined together to form a substantial dining or centre table, making them exceptionally versatile.

Each table has a beautifully figured mahogany top with rounded corners and fine satinwood line inlay around the edge. The friezes are similarly decorated with restrained satinwood stringing and shaped inlaid panels, giving the tables a refined Georgian appearance without being overly ornate.

They stand on elegant square tapering legs, also detailed with fine inlay, giving them a light and graceful profile despite their impressive size. The quality of the mahogany, balanced proportions and subtle decorative detailing are all characteristic of good late Georgian cabinetmaking.

Used separately, they work beautifully as large console, hall or serving tables. When placed together, they form a substantial table measuring approximately 127cm deep, offering a particularly practical solution for dining or entertaining while retaining the flexibility of two separate pieces.

Condition Report
