This is a beautiful handwoven woollen Hamadan carpet dating from around 1930. The carpet had a pretty two way design with a central lozenge set within a flower filled field and deep borders of flowers and serrated leaves. Each end of the carpet has a bowl of flowers to the design.
Hamadans are robust and very woolly carpets with a deep pile. This one has a warm colour palette with deep indigo, warm red, a lighter blue and gold shades all featured.
The carpet is in excellent condition throughout and looks great down.
It measures 270 cms by 152 cms.
