Antique Pair of French Rococo Gilt Bronze Figural Candelabra, Late 19th Century
Description
A pair of French Rococo style gilt bronze figural candelabra, dating from the late 19th century.
Each candelabrum issues four candle sconces on scrolling foliate branches, centred by a stem cast with a maiden and putto. The bases are richly decorated with scrolling floral and foliate ornament, incorporating heraldic crests surmounted by crowns, and are raised on elegant scroll feet.
The quality of the casting and the abundance of Rococo-inspired ornament give these candelabra a strong decorative presence, suitable for a mantelpiece, console table, or grand interior setting.
These candelabra were formerly used as film props, adding an interesting element to their history.
A decorative pair that can be used to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors, whether displayed on a mantelpiece, console table, sideboard, or cabinet.
