Antique Regency Set of Six Mahogany Dining Chairs
Description
A fine set of six Regency mahogany dining chairs of elegant and refined form with gently curved bar backs and well shaped frames. The quality of the timber is excellent displaying a rich colour and attractive figuring throughout.
Raised on turned front legs with sabre rear legs, these chairs have a classic Regency silhouette that remains highly sought after. The curved back rails and shaped supports were designed for both comfort and style reflecting the period’s move towards lighter more refined furniture.
Chairs of this type would have been used in dining rooms of the early 19th century offering a more comfortable and fashionable alternative to earlier heavier designs.
