Antique Victorian Carved Walnut Upholstered Armchair
Description
A splendid antique Victorian walnut armchair of exceptional decorative appeal, featuring beautifully executed carving, elegant proportions and wonderfully intricate scrolling arms.
The generously upholstered, shaped back is surmounted by an elaborate carved crest, while the magnificent open scroll arms display particularly fine craftsmanship. The chair stands on gracefully shaped cabriole front legs terminating in brass castors, with swept rear legs completing its elegant silhouette.
Upholstered in an attractive floral fabric featuring soft pink roses, delicate yellow flowers and muted green foliage against a pale background, the chair has a romantic and timeless appearance. The deeply buttoned back and generously padded seat provide comfortable seating.
The beautifully figured walnut has developed a lovely warm colour and patina, complementing the delicate upholstery and highlighting the quality of the carved decoration.
A particularly charming and decorative Victorian armchair, ideal for a bedroom, dressing room, drawing room or as an occasional chair in an elegant contemporary interior.
