Antique Victorian Figured Mahogany Hall Console Table
Description
An elegant Antique Victorian figured mahogany hall console table dating from around 1850, of exceptional quality and wonderfully restrained proportions. The table features a beautifully figured solid mahogany rectangular top with softly rounded corners and a finely moulded edge, its clean uncluttered design allowing the superb timber to take centre stage.
The top is supported by a deep, well-proportioned frieze, giving the piece an impressive architectural appearance whilst maintaining a refined elegance. It stands on four bold, finely turned baluster legs, each tapering gracefully towards the original brass cup castors. The generous overhang to the top and the substantial corner blocks create a pleasing sense of balance and solidity, whilst the elegant turned legs lighten the overall appearance, giving the table a timeless sophistication.
Freestanding and finished on all sides, this versatile piece can be used as a hall table, console table, serving table, sofa table or display table. The rich figured mahogany displays a beautiful warm colour and flowing grain with an excellent depth of patina developed over more than 170 years.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with a beautiful rich colour and patina. Minor age-related marks consistent with normal use. A solid, sturdy table ready for everyday use.
