Antique Victorian quality carved mahogany display cabinet by James Winter & Sons

having an unusual polished mahogany top with a carved edge above a pair of quality carved mahogany astral glazed doors opening to reveal three adjustable display shelves.  The base having a polished mahogany top with a carved edge above two drawers with reeded decoration and stamped by James Winter & Sons, original brass handles standing on square tapering carved mahogany legs with unusual block feet united by a shaped mahogany undertier 

 

A beautifully crafted example by the renowned cabinet makers James Winter & Sons who were based in Soho London between 1823 to 1870 and produced some amazing pieces of antique furniture. James Winter founded his company in 1823 as a cabinet maker, undertaker, dealer, appraiser and specialised as a restorer of second hand and antique furniture to retail in his Soho shop. His sons joined his firm and then the business was renamed James Winter & Sons, 101 Wardour St., Soho, London. It was throughout the Regency and Victorian period, James Winters Company flourished with stunning new designs and beautifully crafted, restored furniture retailed to their Victorian customer’s diverse tastes.
