A charming Bronze figure of a boy by Giuseppe Renda (1859-1939) Depicting a boy having had his finger nipped by the crab at his feet, signed, In good condition and with original brown patination. 780mm high, 200mm wide and 220mm deep. Italian. Circa 1920.
Renda Giuseppe (Polistena, 1859 - Naples, 1939) Giuseppe Renda was an Italian sculptor. He dedicated himself to sculpture, working in the Morani brothers'' workshop and in 1874 he moved to Naples, studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was a pupil of Tommaso Solari, Stanislao Lista, Gioacchino Toma and in the Academy he won the admission competition to the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. In 1898 he became technical director of the Laganà foundry in Naples and participated in various international exhibitions in London, St. Petersburg, Barcelona and Vienna, receiving two gold medals.
