A rare and highly decorative chinoiserie black lacquered japanned side cabinet dating to circa 1920.
Beautifully decorated throughout with hand-painted oriental scenes, figures, pagodas and floral motifs set against a rich black lacquered ground.
The cabinet features a single frieze drawer above a pair of cupboard doors fitted with brass drop handles. Inside are two useful storage compartments, each retaining a removable shelf.
Raised on elegant cabriole legs, the cabinet displays good colour and detail throughout.
Presented in good condition, this charming and unusual piece would make a striking addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
