Exceptional Quality Early 18th Century Antique George I Walnut Chest on Stand
Description
A magnificent early 18th-century antique George I walnut chest on stand superbly constructed and richly figured throughout. The upper section features two short over three long graduated drawers while the lower section is fitted with three further drawers, all retaining their original engraved brass handles and escutcheons.
The beautifully quarter-veneered walnut surfaces are bordered with fine featherbanding displaying the deep, mellow patina that only centuries of age can produce. The piece stands elegantly on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet with a shaped apron adding to its refined silhouette.
A wonderful example of early Georgian craftsmanship, blending proportion, grace, and practical storage — a true collector’s piece.
A rare and distinguished George I walnut chest on stand, circa 1720, with exceptional colour, character, and authenticity.
