Pair Chinese Paintings Of Dignitaries
Description
This is an excellent pair of Chinese gouache watercolour paintings on pith which date from the mid 19th Century. The paintings are meticulously painted in very fine detail and depict courtiers or dignitaries magnificently dressed. The period costumes of the dignitaries are works of art in themselves featuring incredible detail and four-clawed dragons which would be typically used only for imperial nobility and certain high ranking officials. Both paintings are in excellent condition with no breaks to the pith and a brilliant depth of colour. They are framed in fine delicate silver swept style frames that suit the paintings well. They measure 35 cms by 27 cms including the frames.
Outstanding work beautifully detailed and with incredible colours.
