K0669 A highly desirable late Victorian solid oak open bookcase of unusually low proportions, expertly crafted in England during the late 19th century. Retaining its original French polish and patina this dwarf-proportion bookcase features a solid oak top with a refined moulded edge sitting above a shallow frieze. The open fronted interior houses two height adjustable shelves, each finished with a fluted oak edge, all flanked by a pair of fluted uprights adorned with intricately rosette carved decoration, with the entire structure raised on a deep, robust plinth base with a matching moulded edge. With its rare, low-profile silhouette, this versatile piece is ideally suited for placement beneath a low window, behind a sofa, or within a hallway or study.
This antique bookcase has been symphatietically restored, it rretains its original finish which has been cleaned, revived and waxed, original mellow colour and soft patina.
