Oak, mid Victorian silver chest with an interesting life story.

Brass plate to top engraved to EHP Elderton 26th Cameronians

Captain Edward H.P. Elderton was a mid 19th C officer of the 26th (Cameronian) Regiment of Foot.

Serving during the 1850s period, he was stationed in Quebec and Bermuda. Records also show a daughter born in Dublin 1860.

This trunk of solid oak construction and brass mounts bears the patina and wear of what must have been adventures during the Victorian period of Empire. Originally the inside would have been baize lined protecting the families treasures during transit. Lock now lacking.

The knowledge of who its original owner was, the more than probable history of its travels and the pleasing time worn look all add up to give a truly interesting piece.
