A superb quality early Victorian period rosewood cabinet by James Winter of Wardour Street, London. Of fine construction in solid rosewood with attractive rosewood veneers. With a single glazed door (lockable, key supplied) which opens to access a shelved and lined interior. Decorated throughout with crisply carved scrolling applied moldings. The top is fitted with a charming open fret-work gallery. This item could be used as a bookcase or display cabinet, Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Now offered for sale in excellent original condition with a warm colour and patina.

The renowned cabinet makers James Winter & Sons were based in Soho London between 1823 to 1870 and produced some amazing pieces of antique furniture. James Winter founded his company in 1823 as a cabinet maker, undertaker, dealer, appraiser and specialised as a restorer of second hand and antique furniture to retail in his Soho shop. His sons joined his firm and then the business was renamed James Winter & Sons, 101 Wardour St., Soho, London. It was throughout the Regency and Victorian period, James Winters Company flourished with stunning new designs and beautifully crafted, restored furniture retailed to their Victorian customer’s diverse tastes.
