A rare Charles II 17th Century Oak Coffer made in the typical Lake District manner having finely carved front with interwoven Celtic patterns. Initialed A H and having a good early date of 1665, which was the year of the great plague.

 

The piece is a very good rich warm colour, the left panel to the top has been replaced many years ago otherwise the piece is in very good original condition with candle box fitted to the interior.
