A fine set of antique George III mahogany library steps of compact three-step form constructed in solid mahogany and retaining their original proportions and character. The stepped design incorporates three hinged compartments, each opening to reveal useful storage, making the piece both practical and decorative.

The steps are fitted with original tan leather treads, each bordered with a reeded edge, and display attractive wear consistent with age and use. The fronts are fitted with original cast brass lion’s head ring handles, a bold classical detail typical of the late Georgian period. The piece stands on turned legs, giving it a light and well-balanced stance despite its solid construction.

This is a versatile and highly usable piece, equally suited to a library, dressing room, or as a decorative accent, and it retains strong period integrity with pleasing colour and patination throughout.

Condition

In good antique condition, with expected surface wear, scuffs, and marks commensurate with age and use. The leather treads show honest wear but remain intact and serviceable. No structural issues observed.
