Antique Late 19th Century French Belle Époque Giltwood Girandole Mirror
Description
A late 19th century French carved giltwood girandole mirror, dating from the Belle Époque period (circa 1871–1914).
The oval mirror plate is enclosed within a reeded moulded frame, surmounted by an elaborate crest carved with foliage and a scallop shell. Below are three scrolling candle arms with sconces, allowing the mirror to function as both a decorative wall mirror and a girandole.
The combination of the giltwood frame, oval form, and candle branches reflects the elegant decorative taste associated with the Belle Époque period.
A decorative piece that can be used to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors, whether displayed in a hallway, drawing room, bedroom, or above a fireplace.
