A fine quality Antique Regency period mahogany inlaid console side card table dating to circa 1820. This elegant and versatile piece features a beautifully figured mahogany rectangular top with rounded corners, decorative boxwood style string inlay and a hinged double-action opening mechanism revealing the original green baize playing surface.
The table displays excellent craftsmanship throughout, with a finely figured mahogany frieze decorated with delicate inlay, supported on a pair of elegant shaped mahogany supports united by a central platform stretcher. The beautifully shaped sabre legs retain their original brass claw feet and brass casters, adding both refinement and practicality.
The rich warm colour and attractive figuring of the mahogany are particularly impressive, with the table having the refined proportions and understated elegance associated with fine Regency furniture. Originally designed as a card table, this versatile piece would work equally well as a console table, side table or occasional table within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Condition Report:
The table is presented in very good condition, retaining its original green baize interior, brass claw feet and brass casters. It has historic marks and signs of age commensurate with its circa 200-year history, adding to its charm and character. The table has a beautiful aged patina throughout and remains a fine example of Regency craftsmanship.
