Attractive Antique Mid-19th Century Inlaid Mahogany Side / Display Cabinet
Description
A handsome antique Victorian mahogany side / display cabinet distinguished by its fine inlay and elegant proportions.
The well-figured top with moulded edge is crossbanded and finished with satinwood stringing echoing the line-inlaid frieze below. Twin panelled cupboard doors are framed with contrasting boxwood/satinwood stringing and inlaid corner spandrels opening to a practical storage interior. Slender inlaid pilasters flank the doors, and the whole stands on a tidy plinth base, the enriched inlay providing a refined contrast to the warm mahogany.
A versatile and decorative piece that carries the restrained luxury of mid-Victorian cabinetmaking—ideal as a hall console, dining side cabinet, or living-room storage.
