French Louis XVI Style Bronze & Marble Mantel Clock by Vincenti
Description
A magnificent mid 19th century, French mantel clock in the Louis XVI style adorned with cast bronze female figures. The bronze females are of Bacchus, the goddess of wine, who is holding a gilt bronze grape vine, and Demeter, the goddess of harvest, who is holding a gilt bronze wheat sheaf.
The white carrara marble case stands on toupie feet and it has has superb gilt bronze acanthus leaf mouldings, beaded detail, serpent mounts to either side, and it is surmounted with floral vase.
The white enamel dial has Roman and Arabic numerals and the movement is an eight day duration which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The movement has an outside count wheel and the pendulum hangs on silk suspension.
The back plate is stamped with the makers name - Vincenti
The movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
