18th century mahogany tambour desk.

The cylinder shaped tambour top opens to reveal seven divided pigeon holes behind a British racing green leather lined writing surface. The writing surface has been blind tooled and with a broken gilt tooling to contrast the leather lined top. The writing surface is ratcheted so will adjust if needed and is fitted to a solid mahogany thumb nailed moulded edge.

The well figured full length oak lined drawers are fitted with the original gilt brass 18th century handles complete with steel locks and escutcheons. The centre escutcheon is fitted with a concealed lock that works the cylinder tambour top.

The frieze is raised on solid mahogany tapered legs with subtly carved ears that decorate the inside leg. The desk is free standing with figured mahogany to the sides and to the reverse and stands on bold elegant mahogany block feet.

Condition

Excellent 81.00cm height of the writing surface. 66.00cm height to the underside of the drawers.
