Georgian Inlaid Mahogany Linen Press
Description
A splendid George IV period inlaid mahogany linen press of generous proportions. Very well constructed in solid mahogany, with attractive flame mahogany veneers and solid oak drawer linings. The top section with a convex topped cornice and a pair of cupboard doors (lockable, key supplied). The doors open to reveal a series of 5 sliding trays. The bottom section with a series of 2 short over 3 long drawers all fitted with original mahogany bun handles. The door and drawer fronts are inlaid with banding in tulipwood and boxwood. All flanked by reeded columns topped with capitols. Standing on elegant elongated turned feet. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops and now offered for sale in very good condition with a wonderful colour and patina. Splits into 2 sections for ease or installation. Signed (indistinctally) by the cabinet maker and dated "24" for 1824, to the inside of the cornice.
