A rare and impressive George I Walnut Kneehole Desk of outstanding untouched colour and patination. In good original condition retaining the original handles apart from those on the top drawer. The unique design details of this piece make it special. Having quarter veneered top with double checkered banding, cross banding and cross grained ogee mould that differs from the norm with the addition of a fine bead above. Drawer fronts with checkered banding and cock beading to the edge and an extraordinarily unusual arched inlaid patten to the central door. Having cross grain fluted canted corners and original shaped bracket feet sitting on small turned buns that have been on the piece for around 150 years. The original drawer lining are in good clean condition and made in Oak. Circa 1715
