G.E.C (General Electric Company) was established in London in the 1880s by Gustav Binswanger. By the 1890s the company had expanded opening new factories manufacturing lighting, and exporting around the world. They was known for their quality lighting, and the demand for lighting made G.E.C's fortune.
During the First World War, G.E.C was heavily involved in the war effort. They supplied radios, signal lamps, and the arc-lamp carbons used in searchlights. During the second World War, G.E.C developed cavity magnetron for radar.
