Late 18th Century Period Rosewood & Brass Inlaid Sofa Table
George III Sheraton period sofa table stamped Gillow.
The narrow rosewood sofa table top has a highly figured centre burr with quarter book-matched veneers with inner brass stringing complemented by an outer satinwood banded, brass strung and ebony crossbanded top.
The sides are inlaid with satinwood stringing to match the two short and one long drawer arrangement to the frieze. The drawers are decorated with brass stringing and fitted with the original brass turned handles with mahogany linings and very fine dovetailing above a concealed pull out fitted tray.
The rosewood and brass inlaid table is raised on umbrella style legs and vertical supports with a centre stretcher flanking the legs. The underside is adorned with gilt brass circular plaques and brass strung throughout.
The sofa table is identical to the reverse and fitted with faux drawers and stands on the original gilt brass caps and castors.
