A fabulous quality near pair of freestanding early 20th Century mahogany and inlaid Carlton house desk's, both desks having a super structure comprising of four mahogany inlaid drawers at the centre with original brass turned knob handles, cupboards either side with workable lock and key with a single fixed shelf inside, there is a pull out writing slide with a black leather writing surface decorated with blind and gold tooling, stationary compartments either side with lift up lids to reveal a pen tray and various compartments, at each corner there are pull out letter slides with concave fronts and at the top there are letter slots, both letter slides and the lift up stationary compartments also have workable locks and keys.  The frieze below having two mahogany lined drawers with original brass ring handles, standing on square tapering legs with with spade feet.           
Both desks are near identical in every way including the dimensions, the only difference is the inlaid figure heads on the lift up lids and sides, one is of a male and the other a female, so they could be used as "His & Hers" writing desks.  The desks are in excellent condition and profusely inlaid all over incorporating various figure heads, urns and floral inlay.  Circa 1910.
