Victorian Flame Mahogany Breakfront Triple Wardrobe
Description
An impressive Victorian flame mahogany breakfront wardrobe of large scale and outstanding visual appeal, dating to the mid 19th century. This striking piece is beautifully figured throughout, with rich flame mahogany veneers creating a bold and decorative presence.
The wardrobe is arranged in a breakfront form, with a central section featuring a bank of graduated drawers beneath a set of panelled cupboard doors, flanked by two full-height hanging compartments. Each door is finely detailed with gothic arch mouldings and subtle line inlay, complemented by elegant decorative inlaid motifs to the frieze.
The central drawers are fitted with brass swan neck handles and provide excellent storage, while the side sections offer generous hanging space. The piece stands on a plinth base and is topped with a moulded cornice, giving it a strong architectural look. There are minor veneer losses and signs of age related shrinkage, however this is not detrimental to the overall appearance or functionality of the piece.
A superb and highly practical statement piece, ideal for a large bedroom or period interior.
