Antique Victorian Satinwood Inlaid Bow Front Display Cabinet
Description
A beautiful quality late Victorian satinwood display cabinet of elegant serpentine form. Raised on slender turned tapering legs, this fine cabinet features a central glazed door with an attractive oval astragal, flanked by bowed glazed ends which provide excellent visibility and display space.
The cabinet is richly decorated with finely figured satinwood veneers, delicate ebony stringing and an attractive marquetry swag inlaid frieze. The lower section displays particularly striking satinwood veneers, including a beautifully figured oval panel to the centre and geometric inlaid panels to the bowed sides.
The interior is fitted with two glass shelves and offers ample space for displaying porcelain, silver, glassware or treasured collections. Display cabinets such as this would originally have been found in the finest Victorian drawing rooms and dining rooms where they were used to showcase valuable possessions whilst protecting them from dust.
A highly decorative cabinet of elegant proportions, retaining a wonderful colour and warm patina throughout.
