French Louis XVI Style Marble Bronze Gilt Clock Set by Samuel Marti
Description
A fine quality French Louis XVI style white marble antique clock set comprising of a mantel clock and a pair of candelabra garnitures which are adorned with bronze gilt ormolu mounts. The clock case has laurel leaf mounts and acanthus leaf mouldings with ribbon, flower and torch mounts to the sides and pierced entwined floral inset mounts to the base. The clock stands on toupie shaped feet and is finished with an urn to the top.
The clock has a white enamel dial which is delicately hand painted with floral swags and Arabic numerals, and it has a French eight day duration movement, which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell with outside count wheel.
The movement back plate is stamped with the makers name – Samuel Marti
The candelabra garnitures have a white marble plinth base and also stand on toupie shaped feet with two curved arms terminating to candle bobeche cups.
