Description
Rare 19th century American Chippendale revival pie crust table by Ernest F. Hagen of 213 East Street, New York.
The table, made by the eminent American furniture maker, has his impress on the base.
The mahogany veneered pie crust top is made with seasoned 18th century mahogany. The top sits on a bird cage mechanism and the underside of the top is varnished and coloured as per the workings of Hagen. The gilt brass catch is original to the date of manufacture.
The tilt top table will swivel 45 degrees as per the bird cage design and sits on a crisply carved solid mahogany pedestal base. The carved base is original to the top and carved in the 19th century.
