Exemplary George III 18th century Hepplewhite period flamed mahogany linen/clothes press.

A finely inlaid parquetry boxwood and ebony banding above a ''George Hepplewhite'' trademark ''tear drop'' moulding below a thumbnail moulded cornice. The applied tear drop and arched cornice is veneered in a figured mahogany above a single cock bead moulding.

The highly figured mahogany doors are crossbanded with rosewood satinwood, boxwood and brown ebony stringing. The book-matched flamed mahogany veneers to the inset oval panelled doors open to reveal four oak-lined and mahogany fronted trays. The trays are period with a later brass railing to the top of the cupboard. We have reinstated the trays'' runners in order to put the clothes press back to its original condition.

The top section sits on a full length pull out drawer that is fitted with the original handles and the apron is veneered and crossbanded in satinwood and raised on elegant splayed feet.

A fine piece of Georgian furniture and quite rare to find full length doors with this quality of veneer and craftsmanship.
