Pair of Antique Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Spaniel Dogs
Description
A charming pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire pottery spaniel dogs, beautifully modelled in a traditional seated position with their heads turned slightly and their magnificent curled tails resting alongside their bodies.
Each spaniel has a wonderfully expressive face with large amber-coloured eyes, finely painted black noses and delicate facial detailing. Their coats are finished in a soft cream-white glaze, with beautifully moulded flowing fur, long ears and decorative collars with pendant medallions, enhanced with touches of gilt.
The pair are particularly appealing displayed together, with their complementary poses creating a delightful symmetrical arrangement. Their generous proportions, characterful expressions and decorative appearance make them wonderful examples of traditional Victorian Staffordshire pottery.
These delightful spaniels would look lovely displayed on a mantelpiece, dresser, console table or amongst a collection of antique English ceramics, bringing warmth, charm and character to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
