Date 1880

A Victorian amboyna and ebonised pier cabinet in the Aesthetic Movement style, circa 1870–1890. The cabinet is fitted with a pair of glazed doors, flanked by ebonised and gilt-carved pilasters, and opens to an interior with three fabric-lined shelves and mirrored back. The exterior is embellished with brass mounts and fine inlay borders, the whole raised on four turned toupie feet.

The Aesthetic Movement (circa 1860–1900) emphasised beauty and refined design over purely functional form, often incorporating exotic woods, bold contrasts, and decorative motifs inspired by classical and natural forms.

Condition: A slight warp to the upper section of one door (as illustrated).

Well suited for the display of decorative objects, books, or everyday items, this cabinet offers both practical storage and a refined focal point within an interior
