Antique Staffordshire Queen Victoria Figure Flatback Seated Ceramic Ornament Crown Cobalt Blue
Description
A very good antique Staffordshire flatback figure depicting Queen Victoria seated in a high-back chair, wearing a crown and sash, clearly representing the monarch. Beautifully hand painted in rich cobalt blue with gilt highlights and applied bocage decoration, giving the piece strong depth and visual appeal.
Figures of Queen Victoria were produced in the mid 19th century for mantelpiece display, celebrating the reigning monarch and reflecting the strong sense of national pride during the period. The flatback form allowed them to sit neatly against a wall while still offering a full decorative front.
This example stands out for its quality of modelling and bold colourway, with the textured bocage and seated pose giving it a more sculptural presence than many standard examples. Pieces with clear royal attribution and good scale tend to be the ones collectors favour.
Condition
Good antique condition with typical age related wear. No major cracks or repairs.
